What is Advance Authorisation?

Advance Authorisation is a Duty Exemption Scheme under Chapter 4 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023 issued by DGFT, allowing duty free import of inputs physically incorporated in export products, subject to fulfilment of export obligation. Fuel, oil, catalyst, and consumables used in production may also be permitted as per policy provisions.

The scheme enables exporters to reduce import costs and improve global competitiveness by allowing exemption from applicable customs duties on eligible imports used for export production.

Advance Authorisation may be issued:

  • Against Standard Input Output Norms (SION)
  • Under Self Declaration basis
  • Through Adhoc Norms fixation by Norms Committee
  • Under Self Ratification Scheme for eligible exporters
  • On Net-to-Net or Repeat Basis
